Vietnamese Cities Shine in Global Student City Rankings

In the "Best Student Cities 2027" ranking released by British higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), major Vietnamese cities have garnered increased international recognition. The ranking evaluates cities worldwide across six key categories: university rankings, student mix, desirability, employer activity, affordability, and student view. Vietnamese cities are notably drawing attention for aspects such as student diversity and future employment opportunities. These cities are increasingly becoming attractive options for international students in recent years, likely due to advancements in educational infrastructure and strengthened collaborations with international universities. The Vietnamese government is actively promoting the internationalization of higher education and implementing policies to attract students from both domestic and international backgrounds. Leading the rankings were Seoul (South Korea) for the second consecutive year at No. 1, followed by Tokyo (Japan) at No. 2. Several Asia-Pacific cities also climbed the ranks, with Beijing (China) rising 19 places to 12th. These cities are recognized not only for their high educational quality but also for their cultural appeal, ease of living, and diverse post-graduation career paths. The ascent of Vietnamese cities in this ranking suggests that the country is establishing itself not just as a manufacturing hub, but also as a center for knowledge-intensive industries and international education and research. This can be seen as part of Vietnam's economic growth strategy under its one-party system, particularly linked to efforts to expand educational opportunities for the youth and consequently advance domestic industries.
