NUEVA VIZCAYA plans to develop a World War II “Liberation Trails” circuit linking key battle sites to attract heritage tourists and generate livelihood opportunities. Governor Jose V. Gambito is backing the proposal of Georgetown University professor Erwin Tiongson, which includes Balete Pass in Santa Fe, Kirang Pass in Aritao and other wartime landmarks. Provincial officials said the project would preserve the province’s wartime history while promoting community-based tourism through local guides and heritage enterprises.
