Lien Khuong Airport Set to Reopen August 19, Boosting Lam Dong Tourism

Lien Khuong International Airport in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong is set to resume operations on August 19. Following its temporary closure, the airport is projected to handle approximately 6,800 passengers daily, an increase of nearly 1,000 compared to pre-closure levels. Passenger throughput during the final four months of 2026 is forecast to reach around 816,000. The reopening of the airport is anticipated to serve as a significant catalyst for the tourism industry in Lam Dong province, with more than 90 weekly flights scheduled to resume. Vietnam has been prioritizing infrastructure development in line with its economic growth, with improving accessibility to tourist destinations being a key policy objective. The restoration of Lien Khuong Airport's functionality is expected to play an indispensable role in promoting the province's attractions, such as its highland landscapes and agri-tourism, to both domestic and international visitors. Under the one-party system led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, economic growth and the improvement of citizens' livelihoods are prioritized, with infrastructure investment being a part of this strategy. Enhancing the capacity of international airports holds particular significance for Vietnam's ambition to become a leading tourist destination.
