PM Hun Manet Urges Medical Professionals to Possess Both Skill and Compassion

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has urged all medical professionals to uphold a high sense of responsibility in their profession, prioritizing the lives of their patients. The Prime Minister stated that a good doctor must possess both professional skills and a compassionate heart in fulfilling their duties towards patients. Speaking at the official inauguration ceremony of the Khloung Mae Hospital in Dangkao district on the morning of September 16, 2026, the Prime Minister advised medical staff, "Continue to perform your duties and responsibilities with morality and professionalism, and always prioritize the lives of patients as the utmost benefit for your unit and yourselves. Remember that a good doctor must have both skills and heart." According to the Prime Minister's perspective, individuals who study medicine do so out of love and a desire to save human lives, not solely because it is a profession with high income. He noted that while living conditions are a factor, the primary intention of medical professionals should be to help people. Furthermore, from the platform that morning, the Prime Minister also advised medical professionals to implement the "3 quick" principles: quick detection, quick referral, and quick treatment. He continued, "These three 'quicks' are crucial for patients. Especially in terms of treatment capacity on-site and for critical emergencies, I often say that doctors are not angels, but operators for angels." By "operators for angels," the Prime Minister meant that doctors can help severely ill patients become less ill and recover, and can also help those at risk of losing their lives to regain life.
