Vietnam Faces Copyright Challenges in the AI Era

Vietnam is facing new challenges in copyright protection amid the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI). The advancement of AI technology brings significant transformation to the creative industries while posing challenges to existing legal systems and ethical norms. Issues such as the ownership of AI-generated content and the licensing for using existing copyrighted works as training data are becoming points of discussion. The Vietnamese government, while promoting the development of the digital economy and innovation, has indicated its commitment to strengthening intellectual property rights protection. However, the formulation of specific legal frameworks and guidelines to address new technologies like AI is considered to be still in its early stages. A comprehensive approach is needed to ensure that all citizens have the capacity to benefit from the digital transformation process while simultaneously protecting intellectual property rights.
