IKN Spokesperson Troy Pantouw Dies in ASN Dormitory
Troy Pantouw, spokesperson for Indonesia's new capital authority (IKN), has passed away in a dormitory for civil servants (ASN) in Nusantara. The cause of death was announced as natural. Pantouw had a long career in public relations and communications.
Troy Harold Yohanes Pantouw, the spokesperson for Indonesia's Nusantara Capital Authority (Otorita Ibu Kota Nusantara - IKN), has passed away. He breathed his last at the ASN (civil servant) dormitory 3 Tower 6, Nusantara City, on Saturday (25/7) at 2:25 PM Western Indonesian Time (WITA). According to Thomas Umbu Pati Tena Bolodadi, Deputy for Development Control at the IKN Authority, Pantouw was brought to the local hospital around 12:45 PM WITA. After examination by the medical team, doctors confirmed his passing at 2:25 PM WITA due to natural causes. Pantouw was not new to the public relations (PR) field, boasting over 20 years of experience. His career journey, as per his LinkedIn profile, began as a Radio Announcer and Reporter at Suara Surabaya Media from 1988-1992. He then moved to become an Executive Producer at SCTV from 1990-1998. In subsequent years, he worked in PR roles such as Marketing Communication Manager at Cahaya Bagi Negeri Indonesia, Promotion and Communication Manager at PT Jamu Air Mancur Solo, Marketing Communication Manager at Kabelvision, and Country Head Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing for Standard Chartered Bank. He also served as Corporate Communications Director at Danone AQUA from 2009-2015. Prior to his role as spokesperson for OIKN, he was the Head of Public Communications at the Special Task Force of COVID-19 in Indonesia. Pantouw was recognized with the Inspirator CSR Communication Award in 2015, alongside Prof. Dr. Emil Salim. In professional associations, he served as Vice Chairman of the Indonesia PR Association (Perhumas) from 2011-2014. The sudden passing of a prominent figure involved in the development of Indonesia's new capital is a significant event for the IKN Authority and could have implications for the project's communication strategy.
