Cambodia Cracks Down on Electronic Device Trafficking Ring for Cyber Fraud

Cambodia's Department of Anti-Technology Crimes has busted a trafficking ring involved in the sale of electronic devices used for cyber fraud, both domestically and internationally. On July 14, 2026, the department, acting on the high directives of the National Police Chief and the Deputy National Police Chief, conducted searches at three locations in Phnom Penh. Near the National Assembly, they launched an operation to investigate and suppress the case of storing and trafficking electronic equipment used to serve cyber fraud activities within and outside the country, with the procedural coordination of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court Prosecutor's Office. This operation led to the arrest of four suspects (one Cambodian and three Chinese nationals) and the seizure of numerous items. Currently, the four suspects and the seized evidence have been transferred by the Department to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court. The court has decided to charge them with "Cyber Fraud (as part of an organized group)" and "Complicity in Cyber Fraud (as part of an organized group)", and has also ordered an investigation into "Money Laundering." The Department of Anti-Technology Crimes urges the public not to engage in the purchase, sale, or storage of electronic equipment that serves technological criminal activities.
