Hospital Violence Suspects Arrested in Banteay Meanchey
Police in Banteay Meanchey province have arrested five suspects involved in a violent incident at the Serei Sophorn Referral Hospital. The arrests, made on July 28, follow an incident on July 25 that drew widespread condemnation.
Five suspects involved in a violent incident at the Serei Sophorn Referral Hospital in Banteay Meanchey province have been arrested by joint forces from the provincial police and the Ministry of Interior's Criminal Police Department. The arrests were made on July 28 in Borey Phay Star Residence, Kandal Stueng District, Kandal Province. The suspects include three women aged 26, 21, and 21, all residing in Phnom Penh, and two males aged 17 and 13, residing in Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province. According to Lieutenant Colonel Prom Thien, Chief of the Light Criminal Police Office of the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police, the investigation and identification of suspects were carried out following orders from Provincial Police Commissioner Major General Suom Sarith. Although the suspects had fled to a distant location, the forces collaborated with the Criminal Police Department to apprehend them. During the operation, authorities seized one white GTV vehicle with license plate Phnom Penh 2CD-4972. The suspects and the seized evidence have been transferred to Banteay Meanchey province for legal proceedings.
