Hanoi's Ring Road 1 Section Opens, Advancing Transportation Infrastructure

In Vietnam's capital city, Hanoi, the section of Ring Road 1 from Hoang Cau to Voi Phuc officially opened for technical passage on September 2, 2023. This opening was achieved after eight months of urgent and intensive construction to celebrate the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day. The opening of this segment of the ring road is part of Hanoi's efforts to modernize its transportation infrastructure and alleviate traffic congestion in urban areas. Vietnam has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years, leading to increased urbanization and a rise in vehicle ownership. In this context, expanding the road network is essential for improving logistics efficiency and enhancing the convenience of citizens' lives. Under the one-party system led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, state-led large-scale infrastructure development is positioned as one of the driving forces of economic growth. Furthermore, while strengthening economic ties with China, Vietnam also harbors security concerns.
