Bali Authorities Warn of AI-Generated Hoax Videos Impersonating Putri Koster

The Bali Provincial Government has issued a warning to the public to be wary of hoax videos impersonating Putri Koster, the Chairperson of the Bali Provincial TP PKK and wife of the Governor, announcing a prize lottery program from BPD Bali. The government also urges the public not to immediately believe information received on social media. Recently, videos have been widely circulated showing Putri Koster inviting the public to participate in a lottery program as part of the commemoration of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day, with prizes up to Rp 2 billion. These videos also include registration links. Ida Bagus Surja Manuaba, Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of the Bali Provincial Secretariat, confirmed that the information in these videos is false. He stated that the Bali Provincial Government and BPD Bali have never organized or announced any lottery program as claimed in the circulating videos. "After our analysis, it was found that this video is a manipulation created by irresponsible parties using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The information conveyed in the video is not true," said Surja Manuaba, as reported from the official Facebook account of the Bali Provincial Government. "We ask the public not to click on the links included in these posts because they have the potential to be misused for fraudulent activities or personal data theft," he added. Surja Manuaba also invited the public to always verify the information they receive by accessing the official channels of the Bali Provincial Government and BPD Bali. According to him, public caution in filtering information is an important step to prevent the spread of hoaxes and protect the public from various forms of digital fraud. The Bali Provincial Government also reminded the public to immediately report if they find similar content that impersonates Bali Provincial Government officials or government agencies, offering prizes, investments, or other suspicious promotions.
