Cambodia's Social Security Fund Approves Strategic Plans and Budget, Labor Minister Urges Efficiency
Cambodia's National Social Security Fund (NSSF) approved its 2027 budget proposal, 2027-2029 strategic budget plan, and Q1 financial and performance reports. Labor and Vocational Training Minister Heng Sour urged enhanced transparency and efficiency to improve services for members.
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) of Cambodia, under the chairmanship of H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training and Chairman of the NSSF Board of Directors, convened its 5th Board of Directors meeting of the 2nd mandate. The meeting reviewed, discussed, and unanimously approved the 2027 budget proposal, the 2027-2029 strategic budget plan (rolling three-year plan), and the first-quarter financial and performance reports of the NSSF. The objective was to enhance work efficiency and ensure transparency in serving the interests of NSSF members. H.E. Heng Sour highly commended the leadership, officials, and all staff of the NSSF for their diligent efforts and high sense of responsibility, which have firmly ensured the sustainability and quality of services provided to NSSF members, leading to efficient and transparent benefits, particularly noting the growth in registered members. He emphasized that when citizens receive better services from the NSSF and maintain good health, it signifies success for both the NSSF and the government in the social protection sector. The Minister highlighted the long-term vision of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, as the government's staff agency, to develop and expand the scope of social security schemes in line with socio-economic evolution, based on the principles of equality and equity to ensure sustainability, in accordance with global principles. He stated that NSSF's services in work-related risks, healthcare, and pensions are becoming increasingly attractive, making them desirable for the public. The meeting proceeded smoothly with active discussions, and agreement was reached on the aforementioned budget proposal, strategic budget plan, and financial report. H.E. Heng Sour highly valued the efforts of the NSSF in preparing these crucial documents, considering it a significant step in line with established procedures, and encouraged the meeting participants to continue their vital mission as board members to achieve the expected goals.
