A School Library Development and Reading Habit Promotion Festival was held at the Basic Education High School in Minhla Township on Thursday. Magway Region Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko attended the event and formally opened the festival, together with officials. They also visited school library displays, book stalls, departmental exhibitions, games and student performances. In his speech, Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko said that developing school libraries and encouraging students to read are important for improving knowledge and education. He encouraged young people to read good books from an early age and share their knowledge with others to help build a better society. The regional government donated 5.5 million kyats to support the festival and provided books for the school library. Awards were also presented to winners of intellectual competitions and participants in the “Never Stop Learning” talk show. The festival featured physical and intellectual competitions, cultural performances, a reading-related talk show, departmental exhibitions and book stalls.
