Drunk Indian Tourist Found Unconscious After Pattaya Street Altercation

A heavily intoxicated Indian tourist was found unconscious and vomiting in the middle of a Pattaya street early Tuesday morning following an altercation near a seafood restaurant. The incident was reported at about 4:20 a.m. on September 1 in front of a seafood restaurant. Pattaya City Police and Pattaya Tourist Police were called to the scene, along with rescuers from Sawang Boriboon. Police found 48-year-old Indian national Raval Devang lying unconscious on the road. He was reportedly heavily intoxicated and had vomited, while fellow Indian tourists attempted to assist him. Rescuers provided first aid before taking the man to hospital for treatment. A nearby fried-insect vendor, 58-year-old Panporn Ob-oon, told authorities she had seen the tourist walking around the area in an apparently drunken condition shortly before the incident. She said he appeared unsteady and was allegedly provoking or confronting people nearby. According to Panporn, the man later walked toward a nearby parking area where staff were looking after customers’ vehicles. A disturbance then broke out, leaving the tourist on the ground. Parking attendant Pornchai Naktae, 36, gave police another account of the incident. He said he had been watching over customers’ vehicles when the intoxicated tourist approached the parking area and allegedly began pulling on one of the vehicles. Pornchai said he intervened to prevent possible damage to the customer’s vehicle. He alleged that the tourist then punched him in the face once. Pornchai told police that he responded by punching the tourist once, after which a scuffle developed. A motorcycle taxi driver reportedly became involved and pushed the Indian tourist, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness. A large group of Thai and foreign tourists gathered around the scene while the incident was taking place. Police took those involved to Pattaya City Police Station for questioning and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to establish the sequence of events and determine responsibility. Authorities said the investigation would proceed based on witness accounts and available evidence, with further action to be taken according to the findings.
