Donation Ceremony : Cash and kinds donated for flood-hit community

A ceremony was held to donate cash and kinds for the flood-affected communities in Laymyethna Township of Ayeyawady Region on Saturday. President U Min Aung Hlaing attended the ceremony and delivered a speech, outlining plans to mitigate flooding and repair the damaged dam. He emphasized the need for concerted efforts to build resilient communities capable of responding to disasters caused by climate change. He also stressed the importance of carrying out rehabilitation and restoration work to ensure long-term sustainability and resilience against future disasters. He also thanked the donors for their contribution to the flood-affected communities. Over 23.324 billion kyats were donated by the donors during the ceremony. The heavy rain triggered flooding in Laymhethna Township of Hinthada District, causing the damage to Ngawun River embankment. About 39,000 people from over 9,000 households in five wards, 138 villages, from Laymyethna Township were affected by the floods. 17 relief camps were opened to evacuate the affected communities.
