Lang Giang Town in Bac Ninh Province Upgraded to City Status

In the northern province of Bac Ninh, Lang Giang commune has officially been upgraded to city status. On September 13, at the central square of Lang Giang commune, the Party Committee, government, and people of various ethnic groups of Lang Giang commune held a ceremony to announce the resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the establishment of Lang Giang city. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Pham Hoang Son, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of Bac Ninh, along with leaders of Bac Ninh province, representatives of departments, agencies, and units in the province, and thousands of local residents. On behalf of the provincial leadership, Chairman Pham Hoang Son emphasized that this is a particularly significant event, marking a new stage of development for the locality with a new position, new development space, and higher requirements and responsibilities in the process of building a civilized and modern Bac Ninh city. He warmly congratulated the Party Committee, government, armed forces, business community, and all ethnic people of Lang Giang commune. He stated that today's achievements are the crystallization of the efforts, intellect, and dedication of many generations, and the result of solidarity, the will to rise, the aspiration for innovation, and the determination to build a prosperous homeland. Lang Giang is a land with a rich history, culture, and revolutionary tradition, bearing the distinct imprint of the nation-building and defense heritage. Notably, the victory at Can Tram-Ho Cat-Xuong Giang in 1427 has become a glorious milestone in the history of the struggle for national independence. From July 1, 2025, in line with the policy of reorganizing administrative units, Lang Giang city is established on the basis of merging Voi town and Huong Lac, Tan Hung, and Xuong Lam communes. It covers an area of over 55.4 square kilometers and has a population of over 64,700 people, including more than 3,000 ethnic minorities. The urban area of Lang Giang has been recognized as meeting the criteria for a Type III urban area. It hosts the Tan Hung Industrial Park and three industrial clusters with an occupancy rate exceeding 90%. Across the commune, 381 enterprises, 14 cooperatives, and 1,774 household businesses are operating stably. Benefiting from convenient transportation with National Highway 1A and the Hanoi-Dong Dang railway passing through, Lang Giang possesses numerous conditions to develop high-tech industries, supporting industries, commerce, services, logistics, finance, education, healthcare, and high-quality services. The living standards of the people continue to improve; political security and social order are maintained; the leadership capacity of Party committees and the management and operational efficiency of the government are enhanced; significant achievements have been made in Party building and the political system; and the trust of the people, cadres, and party members, along with the great national solidarity, continue to be consolidated. At the ceremony, Chairman Pham Hoang Son urged the Party Committee, government, and people of Lang Giang city to focus on key tasks such as promptly reorganizing and stabilizing the apparatus of the Party, government, Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations, ensuring that every cadre and public servant is truly "close to the people, understands the people, and is responsible to the people." He also called for efforts to improve urban aesthetics, complete synchronous and modern urban and transportation infrastructure, and effectively exploit potential and advantages to attract selective investment in high-tech industries, supporting industries, commerce, services, and logistics. Continued attention should be paid to the comprehensive development of cultural and social fields, ensuring social welfare. Furthermore, the tradition of solidarity and unity within the Party Committee and consensus among the people must be preserved and promoted, along with the role and responsibility of the heads of Party committees and governments. The ceremony concluded with an art program celebrating the establishment of Lang Giang city, featuring various outstanding performances praising the homeland, the country, and the land and people of Lang Giang.
