Ilocos Sur Road Reopens to All Vehicles After Rockslide

The Tagudin–Cervantes Road in Suyo, Ilocos Sur, has been reopened to all types of vehicles on Tuesday (Aug. 4) after a rockslide affected a portion of the highway. According to a road advisory issued by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the rockslide occurred in Sitio The road is one of the main transportation routes connecting Ilocos Sur province and Ifugao province, and it is a lifeline for logistics, especially for the regional economy. The closure due to the rockslide had raised concerns about its impact on economic activities, in addition to restricting the movement of local residents and causing delays in the transport of agricultural products and goods. The DPWH has carried out rapid restoration work and has now reopened the road to traffic after safety checks. This is expected to revitalize inter-regional travel and normalize economic activities.
