Cambodia Inspects Four Rural Roads in Kampong Speu to Boost Development and Tourism

On September 7, 2026, H.E. Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development, led a delegation of ministry leaders and technical officials, along with officials from the Kampong Speu Provincial Department of Rural Development, to inspect the condition of four rural roads. The Minister also met with residents from the communities along these routes. The four road projects inspected are: 1. Gravel Road: 8.9 km long, connecting Puthea Village (near Te Tuk Pous Resort) to Chambok Village, Trapeang Choa Commune, Oral District. This road passes through five villages: Ta Nil, Trang, Kaodontei, Puthea, and Chambok, directly benefiting 550 families (2,313 people) and indirectly benefiting 1,150 families (6,210 people). 2. Two-Layer Asphalt Road: 4.00 km long and 4 meters wide, leading to Ta Sal Dam. It starts from the gate of Oudom Kiri Chol Sat Pagoda and extends to Ta Sal Dam in O’Ancha Village, Ta Sal Commune, Oral District. This road directly benefits 120 families (751 people) and indirectly benefits 350 families (1,990 people). 3. Red Gravel Road Construction Site: A total length of 7.15 km, starting from Tang Bom Pong Village to the flank of Khlong Sar Mountain, at the Damnak Damrei Dam community market in Ta Sal Commune, Oral District. This project, which commenced on March 4, 2026, has achieved 42.38% progress and is scheduled for completion in March 2027. It directly benefits 851 families (3,532 people) and indirectly benefits 1,710 families (7,730 people). 4. Concrete Road Project: 6 meters wide and 3 kilometers long, from the foot of Khnong Sar Mountain to the mountain ridge. This project is planned to be implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development under the framework of the Sustainable Landscape and Nature Tourism Project. The third and fourth road projects aim to improve the management of natural protected areas, promote opportunities for nature tourism development, and enhance the value chain of forest products in the landscape area of the Cardamom Mountains and Tonle Sap Lake. During the inspection, the Minister and his delegation also visited the Te Tuk Pous natural tourist site, the Ta Sal Dam area, and the Khnong Sar Mountain natural tourist site. They engaged with residents in each community to study and understand the potential and needs of the area, facilitating necessary interventions for development. It is noteworthy that, following the high recommendations of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Ministry of Rural Development, in collaboration with relevant ministries and institutions, is working to conserve and develop ethnic minority communities to improve their livelihoods. The Ministry of Rural Development contributes through the construction of quality rural road infrastructure, clean water and rural sanitation infrastructure, and basic skills training.
