Furthermore, Malaysia is the fourth-largest foreign investor in Laos, with cumulative investments totaling around US$946 million. A series of commemorative activities, including exchanges of congratulatory messages, high-level visits, and bilateral meetings, are scheduled throughout 2026 to celebrate the anniversary and further deepen cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. Separately, the reports also noted the state visit of Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing to Laos from July 3-5, during which he held talks with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihane, reaffirming the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
