Pope Leo XIV Sends Condolences to Cardinal Tagle Over Father's Passing

Pope Leo XIV has sent a letter expressing his condolences to Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle and his family after his father, Manuel Tagle Sr., recently passed away. "Deeply saddened to learn the death of your dear father, Manuel Tagle Sr., I offer heartfelt condolences to your beloved mother, and to the entire family," the Pope wrote in a letter addressed to the cardinal, who serves as the Pro-Prefect of the Section of the First Evangelization and New Particular Churches of the Dicastery for Evangelization. The Pope said he is praying for the eternal rest of Tagle's father. "I assure my spiritual closeness to all who mourn his loss in the sure hope which draws its strength from the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Upon you and those who cherish the memory of your late father, I cordially impart my Apostolic Blessing as a pledge of consolation and peace," the Pope wrote. The letter was signed, "Leo PP, XIV".
