Hanoi International Jazz Festival Aims for Global Recognition

The Hanoi International Jazz Festival kicked off in Vietnam's capital in 2026, aiming to provide more performance opportunities and enable Vietnamese and international musicians and artists from different generations to meet, learn, and connect. It also seeks to bring jazz closer to audiences who may perceive it as difficult to appreciate or suited only to a niche audience. Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated that organizers aim to develop Hanoi Jazztival into an annual international jazz festival, creating a cultural brand for Hanoi with regional recognition and global reach. The festival also featured concerts by the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO), bringing together over 100 young musicians from various countries and territories. Beyond presenting classical masterpieces, the event highlighted music's power to unite people, as young talents from diverse backgrounds found a common voice through music. In recent years, Vietnam has increasingly viewed culture not merely as a field to be preserved and upheld, but as a spiritual foundation, an internal strength, a resource, and a key driver of sustainable development. In this context, international cultural events like the Hanoi International Jazz Festival are expected to play a significant role in showcasing Vietnam's cultural diversity to the world and deepening its ties with the international community.
