Russia-Ukraine Conflict's Indirect Impact on Cambodia?

The intense conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, with missile and drone attacks causing civilian casualties and destroying vital infrastructure and warehouses. From July 31 to August 1, Russia launched numerous missile and drone strikes on the capital Kyiv, resulting in at least nine deaths and 30 injuries. In retaliation, Ukraine reportedly conducted drone attacks on Russian territory, causing at least eight deaths and damaging facilities including warehouses of the major Russian company WILDBERRIES. WILDBERRIES is a giant Russian e-commerce company comparable in scale to Amazon in the United States. Ukraine's attacks on its warehouses are seen as an attempt to damage the Russian economy and confront Russian citizens with the realities of the war. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had shot down numerous Ukrainian drones, but details on the extent of Ukraine's successful attacks remain unclear. While Cambodia is not a direct party to this conflict, it could be indirectly affected through global supply chain disruptions and fluctuations in energy and food prices. The impact is particularly concerning for sectors that rely on Russia as a major exporter or on trade between Russia and Ukraine. Furthermore, escalating international sanctions and geopolitical tensions cannot be ruled out as factors that could affect investment and tourism in Cambodia.
