Cambodia and the United States have agreed to further strengthen their cooperation to combat online fraud crimes targeting citizens of both nations. This agreement was reached during a meeting between a US diplomat and a senior official from Cambodia's Anti-Technology Scam Committee. The meeting involved Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the US Embassy, Ms. Aleks Zittle, and Deputy Prime Minister Chai Sinarith, who heads the Secretariat of the Committee to Combat Technology-Assisted Scams (C.C.T.A.S.). Ms. Zittle acknowledged the progress of Cambodia's anti-scam center crackdown over the past year and urged the Cambodian government to accelerate its campaign to ensure that operators and those behind these scam networks are brought to legal justice. Both sides also agreed to enhance closer cooperation to dismantle illegal scam centers and promote partnership between the law enforcement institutions of the two countries. This collaboration specifically aims to crack down on cross-border online crimes that target US citizens. The Cambodian government recognizes the increasing trend of technology-enabled crimes, particularly online scams, in recent years and places importance on collaborating with international partners. This agreement signifies Cambodia's commitment to working with the international community to address cybercrime.
