Cambodia Youth Party to Dissolve; Six Officials Resign Key Positions

In Cambodia, six officials from the Cambodia Youth Party (CYP), led by Petch Sros, have resigned from their key positions as the party prepares for dissolution. The resignations follow a direct request from Petch Sros to Prime Minister Hun Manet. An official royal decree was issued by acting Head of State Samdech Techo Hun Sen, terminating the positions of Petch Sros and four other CYP members from the Supreme Council of Consultation and Recommendation. Concurrently, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet issued a sub-decree ending the mandate of one additional CYP member (with the rank equivalent to Deputy Director-General). This brings the total number of officials whose duties are officially concluded to six. These decisions were made after Petch Sros, President of the Cambodia Youth Party, submitted a formal letter to Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, requesting the termination of his membership and that of his six colleagues. This move comes as the Cambodia Youth Party plans to announce its dissolution in the near future. Petch Sros explicitly stated that the dissolution of the party is in adherence to his public promise to engage in politics for only 10 years. This statement underscores his commitment to fulfilling his pledge to step away from political activity after a defined period.
