Cambodia Urges Vigilance Amidst Rising Dengue Fever Cases in Rainy Season

In Koh Sothin district, Kampong Cham province, Cambodia, an increase in vegetation during the rainy season has led to a surge in mosquito breeding and a subsequent rise in dengue fever cases. Governor Oun Chanda led a delegation of health officials and local authorities on August 8 to inspect the situation and the provision of medical services at the Koh Sothin Referral Hospital. Dengue fever cases began to escalate at the end of June, with a total of 332 infections reported to date. Among these, 58 patients are currently hospitalized, 18 new cases have been identified, 248 have recovered, and 17 have been transferred to the provincial hospital for further treatment. Governor Oun Chanda visited the patients, offering encouragement, and instructed medical staff to continue providing attentive care in accordance with technical and health guidelines. He also directed the provincial health department, local authorities, and relevant officials to strengthen preventive measures by enhancing health education and promoting community participation in eliminating mosquito breeding sites, particularly by clearing stagnant water around residences and maintaining regular environmental hygiene. The governor appealed to the public to remain vigilant and participate in dengue fever prevention measures.
