SRT to Procure 946 Freight Wagons in 2.45 Billion Baht Tender

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has initiated a tender process for the procurement of 946 freight wagons, aiming to enhance its cargo transportation capacity. The total value of this project is estimated to be 2.45 billion baht. Through this significant acquisition of rolling stock, the SRT anticipates an annual revenue increase of 3 billion baht from its freight operations. The first batch of 154 wagons is scheduled for delivery in 2028 (Thai Buddhist Era 2571), marking a crucial step in the development of Thailand's logistics infrastructure. This investment is expected to stimulate economic activity within Thailand and promote more efficient distribution of goods. In particular, rail freight transport, known for its lower environmental impact and suitability for bulk hauling compared to road transport, is poised to contribute to the establishment of a more sustainable logistics network.
