VNA, Russia's TASS strengthen external communications cooperation

The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Russia's TASS have agreed to strengthen cooperation in external communications, aiming to enhance the influence of the region's largest journalism organization in the digital era. This agreement was reached in the context of the state visit to Russia by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam, which reaffirmed the solid historical foundation and high level of political trust between the two countries. Led by VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang, the VNA delegation actively participated in professional and diplomatic activities. VNA expressed its readiness to promote the development of OANA (Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies) and participate in joint initiatives to strengthen the unity of journalism organizations in the region in the digital age. VNA is also focusing on enhancing its fact-checking capabilities through a three-pronged approach: verifying information at the source, utilizing technology to scan for false information, and establishing rapid fact-checking channels. This reinforces its role as a key national news agency. The cooperation between VNA and TASS is seen as a part of the broader efforts to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and Russia, which extends across various fields including politics, economy, culture, and education. Vietnam aims to build "bridges" of dialogue, trust, cooperation, and mutual understanding with the international community, and this collaboration between news agencies is viewed as a component of that strategy.
