Palace press officer fires back over Imee Marcos' 'impakta' video

“It takes one to know one.” This is how Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro responded on Wednesday when asked about a video posted on Senator Imee Marcos’ Facebook page that claimed there was an “ICC” in Malacañang. Voices in the video claimed that ICC stood for “impaktang clai” before being cut off. Castro said that she is not used to saying such remarks. “Hindi ako normal na nagsasalita ng ad hominem sa kapwa ko. So kung sila ang nakapag-describe ng ganoong salita. Alam nila kung ano ang ibig sabihin nito. Alam nila kung ano ang description ng salitang impakta,” she said. (I do not normally use ad hominem remarks against other people. So if they used that word to describe someone, they know what it means. They know the meaning and description of the word “impakta.”) “It takes one to know one,” she added. Castro questioned who represents the true “impakta,” saying her pronouncements have always been against fake news. “‘Yung gumawa ng video? ‘Yung kasama sa video? ‘Yung nag-direct ng video. ‘Yun ang masasabi nating totoong naglalarawan ng salitang ‘yan,” she said. (The one who made the video? The one who appeared in the video? The one who directed the video? Those are the ones we can truly say embody the meaning of that word.) “At huwag silang mag-alala. Ang korona ay nasa kanila, na kay Senator Imee at nasa grupo niya. At hindi natin kayang agawin ito mula sa kanila. Wala ako sa kalingkingan ni Senator Imee para sa ganyang klaseng description.
