Providing Financial Assistance : Sagaing Region CM provided flood relief financial assistances

The ceremony for providing financial assistance to residents of villages affected by the rising water levels of the Mu River in Taze Township, Ye-U District, Sagaing Region, was held on the morning of August 8 at the Shwe Si Myaing Hall in the District General Office, Kanbalu Township,. The ceremony was attended by the Region Chief Minister, U Ko Lay, who delivered an opening speech. At the event, financial assistance totaling 32.425. million kyats, provided by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, was given to the residents of villages in Taze Township affected by the Mu River flooding. Additionally, the Region Minister for Planning, Finance and Economic Development presented 10 million kyats, provided by the Region Government, to the flood-affected villagers. Following the ceremony, the Region Chief Minister and responsible officials proceeded to inspect the Thaphanseik Dam in Khin-U Township, Kanbalu District. Due to continuous rainfall, they examined the water inflow into the Thaphanseik Dam, the structural integrity of the retaining embankments, and the condition of the main spillway and auxiliary spillway. They provided necessary guidance and instructions to the officials on site. Furthermore, on the morning of August 9, the Region Chief Minister and responsible officials inspected the flood prevention measures implemented in Monywa Township and surrounding villages to protect against flooding and inundation from the Chindwin River during the rainy season. They checked the deployment of 12 water-level monitoring stations set up from Alon Ward to Monywa Taung Ward in Monywa Township, staffed by departmental personnel, local residents, and members of social organizations on a 24-hour watch. The Chief Minister provided necessary guidance and instructions. Subsequently, the Region Chief Minister and responsible officials met cordially with the departmental personnel, local residents, and social organization members stationed at the 12 water-level monitoring points along the Chindwin River, and coordinated with relevant officials to address and fulfill any needs, it is reported.
