Phnom Penh Court Urges Officials to Expedite Priority Cases and Enhance Justice Service Quality

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court held a meeting on July 27, 2026, to review the results of its operations in the first half of 2026 and set work objectives for the second half. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Nguon Nara, President of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, and Mr. Chreung Khmao, Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, with the participation of 289 leaders, judges, deputy prosecutors, clerks, and officials. Mr. Nguon Nara emphasized that this review meeting is an opportunity to evaluate progress, identify challenges, and set more effective work objectives. Mr. Ee Rith, Director of the Administrative Secretariat, presented the results of the first half's campaign and the work objectives for the second half of 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity for leaders, judges, prosecutors, clerks, and relevant officials to exchange opinions and share experiences in carrying out their work, jointly seeking solutions and accelerating the handling of cases to enhance efficiency. Mr. Chreung Khmao reminded all officials to continue expediting the handling of cases, adhering to discipline, professional ethics, and respecting working hours. He also encouraged officials who had not yet achieved satisfactory results in the first half to continue striving for better achievements in the second half. Mr. Nguon Nara set priority directions, requiring all officials to expedite the handling of all types of cases quickly, rigorously, and in accordance with the law, especially cases related to civil status, traffic accidents, drugs, juvenile delinquency, and online scams, which directly affect public order and security. In addition to setting priority directions, the President also praised officials who performed their duties responsibly, respected professional ethics, and worked diligently to resolve cases for citizens quickly, accurately, and justly. Furthermore, he instructed them to continue using the case management system effectively, strengthen internal cooperation, and promote a spirit of responsibility and ownership to enhance the quality and efficiency of justice services. Concurrently, Mr. Nguon Nara recalled the recommendations of H.E. Kert Rith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, regarding the continued implementation of the campaign to promote and expedite case handling in courts nationwide, focusing on priority cases to ensure efficient, prompt, transparent, and lawful case resolution. The meeting concluded in an atmosphere of responsibility, solidarity, and good cooperation among leaders and all officials in effectively implementing the set objectives to enhance the quality and strengthen public confidence in the provision of justice services.
