Cambodia Hosts International Conference on Combating Tech Scams, PM Vows Stronger Measures

Prime Minister Hun Manet of the Kingdom of Cambodia presided over the opening of the "International Conference on Combating Technology-Based Fraud (ICCOS)" on the morning of Wednesday, September 23, 2026. The conference was held under the theme: "Together Towards Breaking the Chains and Ending Technology-Based Fraud." Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the growing sophistication and complexity of technology-based scams, which have become a significant global challenge. He emphasized that to effectively combat these transnational criminal networks, robust international cooperation, including information sharing and coordinated action among governments, law enforcement agencies, private sector entities, and civil society, is crucial. The conference brought together international experts and stakeholders to discuss various aspects of combating tech scams, including analyzing modus operandi, understanding emerging technological trends, strengthening international investigative cooperation frameworks, and enhancing victim protection measures. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating tech-based fraud through enhanced technological defenses, improved legal frameworks, and intensified public awareness campaigns. As Cambodia continues its digital transformation and economic development, addressing the associated rise in cybercrime risks is a key priority. This conference serves as a platform for Cambodia to strengthen its international partnerships and contribute to global efforts in combating cyber fraud.
