"Indonesia and Thailand will continue to cooperate in pushing ASEAN to play a constructive role in supporting the creation of sustainable peace in Myanmar," he said after a bilateral meeting with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (3/8/2026). Indonesia and Thailand support ASEAN's efforts to encourage Myanmar to implement the Five-Point Consensus (5PC) and stop violence against civilians. "We have agreed to support ASEAN's efforts to push for the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus through inclusive dialogue, cessation of violence, and improved humanitarian access," explained Prabowo. During the meeting, Prabowo and the Thai Prime Minister also discussed the situation in the Middle East. Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia and Thailand agree that conflicts in the Middle East region must be resolved through diplomacy and respect for international law. "We also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and affirmed the importance of resolving conflicts through diplomatic dialogue and respect for international law," Prabowo added.
