VNA Calls for Enhanced International Cooperation Against Fake News

At the Media Forum marking the 65th anniversary of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Moscow, General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Vu Viet Trang called for enhanced international cooperation in combating fake news during the "Fakes 4.0" forum. Trang emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and the role of news agencies in the rapidly changing digital media landscape. VNA also announced it will host the OANA Executive Board Meeting in Vietnam in 2027, signaling its active contribution to the organization and efforts to bolster collaboration among news agencies regionally and globally. The OANA forum, held as part of the 65th-anniversary celebrations, gathered over 70 representatives from 24 member news agencies. Vietnam continues to expand its international engagement. Recently, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam visited the United States to attend the UN General Assembly's High-Level General Debate and held meetings with US officials, major corporate leaders, and Vietnamese experts. Discussions covered investment, aviation, and technology cooperation, reaffirming Vietnam's independent foreign policy and its constructive role on the international stage. Furthermore, Vietnam maintains its commitment to UN peacekeeping operations, with rotating units for Level-2 Field Hospital and Engineering Unit deploying to South Sudan and Abyei. Since joining the UN in 1977, Vietnam has deepened its engagement in global peace, security, and development efforts, projecting an image as a peace-loving and responsible nation. Vietnam's international activities have also been recognized for offering valuable lessons in fostering trust and enhancing multilateralism, according to the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific.
