Cambodia Proposes Reconciliation Process for Maritime Border Dispute with Thailand
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhonn highlighted the loss of a mechanism to resolve the maritime border dispute with Thailand after Thailand unilaterally abrogated the 2001 MOU. Following a meeting with the UNCLOS Conciliation Commission in Singapore, Cambodia proposed three options: a Timor-Leste-style maritime boundary agreement, joint development and equitable benefit sharing, or resolution based on the commission's recommendations.
