Former Soldiers Hailed as Key Architects of Cambodia's 'Win-Win' Policy

The Commander of the Military Police in Banteay Meanchey province, Brigadier General Paoun Bin, has deeply emphasized that former soldiers, both retired, disabled, and families of fallen heroes, are not only benefactors to the nation but also the founders and key implementers of the 'Win-Win' policy, which has left behind significant achievements, ending the prolonged civil war and bringing complete peace and national unity to Cambodia. This statement was made on the afternoon of Thursday, July 23, 2026, during a meeting to greet and inquire about the well-being of retired, disabled, and fallen soldiers and their families, held at the main conference hall of the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Military Police Headquarters. The event commemorated the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the Military Police (July 14, 1993 - July 14, 2026). On this meaningful occasion, Brigadier General Paoun Bin conveyed the deepest regards and concern from Lieutenant General Sao Sokha, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the National Military Police, to all former soldiers and their families. The Commander also expressed profound respect and gratitude to the spirits of the heroic soldiers, police officers, and military police who sacrificed their flesh, blood, and lives on the battlefield to protect the territorial integrity and the peace of the people in the past. Brigadier General Paoun Bin further stated that after the war, Cambodian veterans have transitioned from holding weapons to actively participating in construction, restoring infrastructure, and developing the national economy. He noted that these heroic deeds require constant high attention from the leadership of the Royal Government through the provision of monthly pensions and other subsidies from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, as well as from veteran associations and Cambodian pagodas, to ensure a decent standard of living. As a gesture of encouragement and to share in their hardships, during the meeting, the Commander provided aid to 89 former soldiers, including retired, disabled, and families of fallen soldiers. Each recipient received 2 sacks of rice (50 kg), 2 boxes of instant noodles, 4 cases of mineral water, 4 cases of Cambodia Cola, and a cash incentive of 200,000 Riel. By: CHHUN Sarath
