Magnitude 4.3 earthquake jolts Quezon island town

A magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck the island municipality of Burdeos in Quezon province on Thursday afternoon (July 30), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported. Phivolcs said the tectonic earthquake occurred at 4:04 p.m., with its epicenter located about 45 kilometers northeast of Burdeos. It had a depth of 10 kilometers. No damage or injuries were reported as a result of the quake. Phivolcs regularly urges the public to take safety precautions during earthquakes, as the Philippines is situated in the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region prone to significant seismic activity. Burdeos is an island municipality located on the eastern part of Luzon, the main island of the Philippines, and is relatively isolated.
