New Concrete Road Opens in Siem Reap City, Supporting Resident Livelihoods

Siem Reap City, Cambodia – A 660-meter concrete road, spanning three communes, was officially inaugurated in Siem Reap city on July 16, 2026. The road, located in Ta Kong village, Sambour commune, bordering Kruos village in Svay Dangkum commune and Roka Thom village in Sro-ai commune, was constructed with donations from foreign and Khmer philanthropists, channeled through the Sambour commune administration. Mr. Chhlueun La, chief of Sambour commune, stated that the 660-meter long, 6-meter wide concrete road cost over $120,000 USD. The project included the installation of drainage canals on both sides and the provision of solar-powered streetlights. Mr. Chhlueun La further explained that this concrete road is not only a new physical achievement for the locality but also a significant bridge symbolizing the charitable spirit and substantial contribution of philanthropists, working in concert with the Royal Government and local authorities to develop rural infrastructure. On behalf of the three communes, Mr. Chhlueun La expressed his deepest gratitude to all philanthropists who personally donated funds through the authorities to build this road. He noted that it greatly facilitates the travel of residents and students, regardless of the season, and significantly enhances the economy and living conditions of the people in the area. Mr. David Grencer, owner of IPS Real Estate and representative of the foreign and Khmer philanthropists residing in the area, said that contributing to the construction of this concrete road was his greatest wish. He longed to see his village transformed, with easier travel for his compatriots and young students. He emphasized that the road was made possible by the solidarity and generous spirit of all brothers and sisters, both within and outside the country. The funds collectively gathered today not only built a road but also strengthened the hearts and hopes of their community.
