Vietnamese President to Attend UN General Assembly, Visit Canada

General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, will lead a high-level Vietnamese delegation to visit the United States from September 20 to 25. The purpose of the visit is to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly's High-Level Debate. Following his participation in the UN General Assembly, President To Lam will pay an official state visit to Canada at the invitation of the Governor General of Canada. This visit is expected to further deepen bilateral relations between Vietnam and Canada. President To Lam's upcoming visits to the US and Canada are seen as an indication of Vietnam's proactive role in the international arena and its commitment to strengthening multilateral and bilateral cooperation. His remarks at the UN General Assembly, in particular, will provide an opportunity to articulate Vietnam's foreign policy and its contributions to the global community. Under its one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic development while actively engaging with the international community to maximize its national interests. In its relations with China, Vietnam maintains a cautious diplomatic approach, seeking to protect its sovereignty and national interests while preserving economic ties. These visits are considered part of Vietnam's broader diplomatic strategy.
