Battambang Sees Decline in High School Exit Exam Candidates; 3 Special Needs Students Participate

Battambang province -- The number of candidates for the 2026 high school exit examination (Bakdup) in Battambang province has decreased compared to the previous year, according to figures from the Provincial Department of Education, Youth, and Sport. Notably, only three students from special education schools for the visually and hearing impaired are participating. Yi Songky, Director of the Provincial Department of Education, Youth, and Sport, stated that the two-day examination period, from August 10th to 11th, 2026, will be held nationwide. In Battambang province, 14 examination centers and a total of 388 rooms will be used, similar to last year. The total number of candidates registered is 9,623, including 5,588 females. This represents a decrease of 74 candidates compared to the previous year. Director Yi Songky further elaborated on the breakdown of candidates from various districts across the province. Candidates from general education schools number 8,689, from Svay Rieng general education schools, 717, from vocational supplementary schools, 177, from Svay Rieng vocational supplementary schools, 37, and from special education schools (visually and hearing impaired), 3. He added that candidates from all districts and municipalities will take their exams at the 14 designated centers. These include: 1. Bieliversity University, 2. Sohi Secondary School, 3. Dovy International University, 4. University of Management and Economics, 5. National University of Battambang (North), 6. National University of Battambang (South), 7. Battambang Teacher Training Institute, 8. Preah Munivong High School (North), 9. Preah Munivong High School (South), 10. Hope Battambang School, 11. Net Young High School (North), 12. Net Young High School (South), 13. Samdech Euv High School (North), and 14. Samdech Euv High School (South). The Director also mentioned that students from remote areas, particularly orphans and impoverished students who cannot afford rental housing or guesthouses, are encouraged to contact the Battambang City Administration. The city has arranged for six primary school facilities within Battambang city for these students to stay in appropriately.
