Cambodia and Cuba Seek Opportunities to Expand Cooperation

On the afternoon of September 23, 2026, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Dr. Hun Manet, received H.E. Ms. Milena Caridad Zaldivar Piedra, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Cambodia, for a courtesy call and working discussion at the Peace Palace. During the meeting, Ambassador Piedra expressed her gratitude to H.E. Dr. Hun Manet for taking time out of his busy schedule to grant her a courtesy call and for the working discussion. She highly commended the cooperation between the two countries in various sectors over the past years. Ambassador Piedra stated that Cambodia is a good friend of Cuba, always supporting each other at all times and in all circumstances. She pledged to continue strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation to be even more intimate and profound. In response, H.E. Dr. Hun Manet highly valued the historical relations between the two countries, especially during Cambodia's most difficult times after liberation from the Pol Pot genocidal regime. He noted that this good relationship has continued to the present and is being further strengthened and expanded. The Prime Minister expressed optimism that cooperation between the two countries will continue to expand into other potential sectors, such as agriculture and health. Before concluding, the Prime Minister and the Ambassador continued to discuss and exchange views on cooperation in the fields of education, agriculture, culture, tourism, and mutual support in international forums. The Prime Minister encouraged Ambassador Piedra to continue fostering connections and discussions with relevant ministries and institutions to explore opportunities for expanding cooperation in various potential sectors.
