Cambodia: Three Ministries Convene for Joint Meeting on Agriculture, Water Resources, and Rural Development

Phnom Penh, September 4, 2026 -- Ministers from three key Cambodian ministries co-chaired the 7th ministerial-level tri-sector meeting focused on agriculture, water resources, and rural development. The meeting was led by H.E. Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology; H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; and H.E. Chhay Rithisen, Minister of Rural Development. Held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the session aimed to coordinate the implementation of policies and activities related to modern agricultural communities, water-user farmer communities, and model villages. The 7th tri-sector ministerial meeting saw the participation of delegates from inter-ministerial working groups, secretariats, and technical officials from the three ministries, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Tourism. Development partners, including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank (WB), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), were also present. The meeting addressed two main agenda items: first, reviewing the progress and outcomes achieved in communities supported by the tri-sector interventions, which are slated for completion by the end of 2026. Second, discussing and making principled decisions on the composition of communities to be selected for additional tri-sector interventions in 2026-2027 and 2028, along with budgetary solutions.
