Social Affairs and Social Welfare Building Inaugurated in Phnom Sruoch District

A ceremony was held on September 11th to inaugurate the Social Affairs and Social Welfare building in Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia. Dr. Cham Chansophann, Governor of Kampong Speu Province, presided over the inauguration. The new building will house functions such as the administrative office, a rehabilitation center, and a center for victims and vulnerable individuals, enhancing public service delivery in the social welfare sector. Mr. Ou Samoeun, District Governor of Phnom Sruoch, presented a summary report on the progress of the construction. In his speech, Governor Dr. Cham Chansophann highlighted that the social affairs sector is a public service of the state aimed at caring for and rescuing citizens, especially victims and vulnerable individuals. He emphasized the high attention paid by the Cambodian government, particularly Prime Minister Hun Manet, to ensuring that those with mental health issues receive excellent treatment, care, counseling, and rehabilitation services. Dr. Cham Chansophann further stated that the construction aligns with the development of the economy, society, and culture across all sectors, especially social affairs, veterans, and youth. This initiative is being undertaken in an environment of national peace, political stability, public order, and social security, with the aim of promoting and improving the welfare of victims and vulnerable individuals, fulfilling the aspirations of the people who have confidence in the government's leadership. Governor Dr. Cham Chansophann added that the government is committed to considering the interests of the general public, particularly the poor, victims, and vulnerable individuals, by establishing legal standards, policies, and mechanisms to support the social affairs sector. He noted that the construction of the care and rehabilitation center for individuals with mental health issues is not coincidental but is occurring at an opportune time with economic and social progress. It requires strategic consideration and high attention to the welfare of the people, which is a backbone sector covering all aspects, including political, economic, social, and cultural dimensions.
