Marcos Urges Swift Passage of Priority Bills Mentioned in 2026 SONA

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged lawmakers to pass another set of priority legislations which he mentioned in his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) as Congress resumed its session on Monday. According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), among the key legislations that he wanted Congress to urgently pass are the following: The proposed bills are designed to lay the groundwork for the President's vision of sustainable development and improved public welfare in the Philippines. Key among these are legislative measures aimed at enhancing national defense capabilities and economic growth, including proposals for special economic zones and tax incentives to attract foreign investment and foster domestic industries. Bills focusing on improvements in education, healthcare, and social security systems are also included, with the objective of raising the quality of life for every Filipino. Through the passage of these priority bills, the Marcos administration aims to steer the Philippines towards a more secure, prosperous, and equitable society.
