Suspect in Temple Murder Reportedly Commits Suicide

A man is believed to have killed himself in a rented flat under siege by police after allegedly shooting another man dead and wounding two others at a temple in Bangkok. The suspected gunman was holed up in a flat in the Eua Arthorn building on Soi Khu Bon 27 in the Khannayao district. Bangkok police chief Pol Lt Gen Sayam Boonsom led approximately 100 special operations police officers to the building and surrounded the flat. The incident occurred on Saturday evening at Wat Bueng Thong Lang in the Bang Kapi district, where the deceased man had gone. He was allegedly shot dead, with two others sustaining injuries, around 5pm. The gunman was identified as Noparat Muhammad Aree, also known as Bang San, aged 23. Following the shooting, he and his wife fled to their rented flat. Police tracked them to the location and surrounded the premises early Sunday morning. At approximately 2:14 AM, police reported hearing two gunshots. The gunman's wife then emerged from the flat in distress, informing the authorities that her husband had shot himself. The individual was subsequently transported to Synphaet Ramintra Hospital, where he was declared deceased at 3:45 AM. Pol Lt Gen Sayam stated that the wife's husband had a personal conflict with the man he fatally shot. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
