Over 1,000 Fallen Vietnamese Soldiers' Remains Recovered from Laos, Cambodia

The recovery and identification process for the remains of fallen soldiers repatriated from Laos and Cambodia is steadily progressing in Vietnam, with over 1,000 sets of remains recovered and many identified. This endeavor serves as a profound tribute and expression of gratitude to the heroic martyrs who dedicated their youth and sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence, freedom, and peace. Bui Quang Huy, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, stated that Vietnam's history is a testament to patriotism, the pursuit of independence, and the aspiration for peace. He paid tribute to the millions of Vietnamese who devoted their youth and sacrificed their lives for the nation's freedom. A program jointly organized by Vietnam Television (VTV) and the People's Committees of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Tuyen Quang, and Quang Tri provinces honored heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation and praised the forces engaged in the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains. Under the nationwide "500-day-and-night campaign" to accelerate the search and identification of fallen soldiers, Dong Nai province alone has recovered more than 100 sets of remains and collected DNA samples from over 5,000 martyrs' graves. The DNA collection drive was organized by the provincial Department of Public Security in coordination with local authorities, covering multiple wards and communes. Such activities are highly significant political communication events, reflecting the care and responsibility of the Party, State, military, and society towards the search, recovery, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains. They also express the deep gratitude of the current generation to the martyrs who sacrificed their youth for national independence, freedom, and peace and happiness. Throughout Vietnam's history, numerous soldiers have sacrificed their lives to maintain national independence and peace. The recovery and identification of these remains are crucial processes for remembering past sacrifices and serving as lessons for future generations.
