Mother Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Murdering Son for Insurance Payout

In Da Nang City, central Vietnam, a mother has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and six years for insurance fraud after killing her eldest son to claim over 4.1 billion VND (approximately $160,000 USD) in insurance money. The defendant, To Thi Ty Na, 45, allegedly committed the crime with the intent of defrauding insurance companies. According to the court, the defendant used part of the illicit insurance funds for gambling and lending money.
