It is said that flooding may occur in the Thanlwin River due to continuous heavy rainfall in the upper reaches of the Gaungyi and Walay streams, which originate at the foot of the Dawn Mountains south of Myawaddy city. Continuous rainfall has been occurring within Myawaddy Township, and according to measurements taken at 12:00 PM today (July 12), the Thanlwin River has begun to reach and exceed the warning water level of Myawaddy city, which is 963 centimeters. According to today's measurements in Myawaddy Township, the rainfall was 0.32 inches, and as the river water is expected to continue to rise, residents along the banks of the Thanlwin River and in low-lying neighborhoods are urged to take advance precautions against the risk of flooding and to prepare and move their valuables and easily movable belongings to safe locations. Due to continuous rainfall along the Dawn Mountains, floods occur annually in Myawaddy city, and it is also known that as part of natural disaster prevention measures this year, plans are in place to open up to 11 rescue centers and flood evacuation camps to provide assistance and rescue operations.
