Captain Long, exhausted and disoriented, was later pulled from the water by the crew of the tourist boat Thanh Hung, which was nearby. Phuong and Hanh became trapped inside the submerged cabin. Phuong's body was found by divers in the ship's cabin around 5:30 PM on July 9th, while Hanh's body was discovered at the bottom of the vessel by noon the following day. All five crew members were employees of Huong Thao Company, based in Hai Phong city. Local residents and fishermen have long warned of the dangers in the Cai Rong - Quan Lan shipping lane, citing the presence of submerged rocks that have caused previous accidents. "Navigating this area requires experience to avoid hazards. We hope the authorities will install a signal buoy at the exact location of the submerged rock to prevent similar incidents," one fisherman stated. In response to the incident, the Van Don district authorities have mobilized search and rescue operations and issued a notice urging all vessels in the vicinity to be vigilant and report any sightings of missing persons.
