Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Zaw Naing Oo, accompanied by region ministers and officials, visited Zardetkyi Village in Kawthaung Township to inspect local development activities on July 21st. First, the Chief Minister and officials inspected the construction of a 3,000-foot pontoon jetty on Zardetkyi Island, Kawthaung Township. The project is being carried out by the Tanintharyi Region Development Supervision Office under the Department of Progress of Border Areas and National Races (Ministry of Border Affairs), funded by the Tanintharyi Region Government budget for the 2024–2025 fiscal year. Upon hearing the project reports, the Chief Minister provided the necessary guidance. Next, they visited Zardetkyi High School, where the Chief Minister met with the principal, teachers, and students, delivered remarks, inquired about their difficulties and needs, and presented cash assistance. The Chief Minister and officials then paid respects to the Presiding Sayadaw of Zardetkyi Monastery, offered donation items, and inquired about religious matters. Afterward, they met with elderly Salone (Moken) ethnic people and local leaders, held discussions, and provided them with food items and financial support. They then toured the Marine Exhibition Hall in Zardetkyi Village, viewing photos depicting the traditional lifestyle of the Salone ethnic people, everyday items, various types of seashells, marine products, and decorative handicrafts, it’s reported.
