World Tourism Day Paper-Reading Event: Digital agenda and artificial intelligence to redesign tourism

The Ministry of Culture, Hotels and Tourism organized a paper-reading event in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday ahead of World Tourism Day, which will be observed on September 27. Union Minister U Maung Myint said tourism plays an important role in economic development, cultural and environmental conservation, human resources, technology and infrastructure development. He added that tourism development requires not only practical activities but also greater development of tourism-related knowledge and expertise. The Union Minister stressed that the paper-reading event could help provide valuable knowledge and information, contributing to the development of tourism industry. A total of 12 presenters delivered papers on tourism-related topics at the event that will continue on September 11. This year’s theme for World Tourism Day is “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” highlighting the use of digital and AI technologies to transform the tourism sector. The ministry is also organizing essay, article, short video, photo and paper-reading competitions to mark the occasion.
