Vietnam Holds National Conference to Honor Revolutionary Contributors; State Leaders Attend
Vietnam held a national conference on July 23 in Hanoi to honor revolutionary contributors. Government leaders and Party-State officials attended, calling for enhanced support for these individuals, underscoring respect for their contributions to nation-building and social stability post-Vietnam War, and aiming to bolster national unity.
Leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State attended the National Conference to Honor Revolutionary Contributors held in Hanoi on July 23. The conference aimed to express gratitude to revolutionary contributors and launch a movement to enhance support for them. Numerous Party and State officials participated, including Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Central Committee Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh. Also present were 310 representatives including revolutionary contributors, veteran revolutionaries, Mothers of Vietnam, People's Armed Forces Heroes, Labor Heroes, and historical witnesses. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung delivered a speech at the conference, expressing gratitude to the revolutionary contributors and emphasizing the importance of strengthening support for them. This gesture is seen as a tribute to those who contributed to nation-building and social stability after the Vietnam War, and can be interpreted as part of efforts to bolster national unity. Under Vietnam's one-party system, honoring and supporting individuals and groups who have contributed to nation-building and social order has been a crucial policy tool for maintaining public loyalty and ensuring support for the regime. Support for revolutionary contributors, in particular, has historically been emphasized in sharing the memories of past wars and fostering national solidarity. In recent years, while Vietnam's economy has experienced rapid growth, it also faces challenges such as widening social disparities and uneven regional development. In this context, strengthening support for revolutionary contributors is also considered a strategy to maintain social stability and mitigate public dissatisfaction.
